Tagbilaran City police are hot on the heels of one of the suspects in the killing of contractor and businessman Paulino Butal on November 8 in the city.
Superintendent Nicomedes Olaivar, chief of the Tagbilaran police, said on Thursday that they are close to solving the crime against Butal who was shot in broad daylight by motorcycle-riding men.
He revealed that three men were involved in the assassination of Butal.
One drove the motorcycle and one shot and killed the victim while another man was posted nearby as a lookout.
According to Olaivar, charges are set to be filed soon before the Tagbilaran City Prosecutor’s Office against one of the suspects who shot Butal.
However, the police official did not disclose information on the suspect as more evidence are still being gathered before authorities file a criminal complaint.
Meanwhile, city police continue to conduct an investigation to identify and locate the two other suspects.
The Tagbilaran City police had previously noted that they are considering business angle as motive behind the killing of Butal. (Allen Doydora)
