A barangay councilor considered a high-value target by the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and municipal police stations in Talibon and Bien Unido was arrested on Thursday.

Hingotanan West, Bien Unido Brgy. Councilor Gilbert Ejares, 43, was nabbed through a buy-bust operation near his residence conducted by joint operatives of the PIB and Bien Unido and Talibon police.

According to P/Chief Insp. Rolando Antipolo of the PIB, Ejares was also listed as a Level One drug personality in Barangay Maomawan, Bien Unido.

Antipolo said that Ejares yielded shabu contained in five packets and two big packs with an estimated street value of P59,400.

Also acquired from the barangay official was one sachet of shabu worth P500 during the transaction between the suspect and poseur-buyer which resulted in the suspect’s immediate arrest.

Police said that charges for sale and possession of illegal drugs will be filed against the suspect. (Weli Maestrado)
