Six packets containing 30 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P354,000 and two grenades were found inside a Dimiao, Bohol policeman’s locker at the Bogo Police Station on Monday.
The contraband items inside the locker of PO1 Moises Cunanan, who was formerly assigned in Bogo City, Cebu, was discovered during a surprise inspection at 5 p.m. led by station chief Senior Insp. Irish Dilhem.
Dilhem clarified that the seized items were not evidence of the Bogo City station prompting the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 to order the Cebu Provincial Police Office to investigate Cunanan.
According to PRO-7 director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, evidence seized by policemen are supposedly to be processed immediately at a Philippine National Police crime laboratory.
Taliño also questioned Cunanan’s posession of hand grenades as he pointed out that only members of the PNP Regional Public Safety Battalion are issued said explosives by the government.
The police official said that if the probe points that Cunanan violated laws, criminal and administrative charges will be filed against him.
Meanwhile, a Bohol police source noted that Cunanan, a native of Camotes, Cebu was transferred to Bohol in August under the “Balik Eskwela†program of the PRO-7.
The source said that Cunanan joined the training for a new Special Weapons and Tactics team in Bohol.
Following the discovery of the contraband, Cunanan was reportedly ordered to report to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the PRO-7. (Rey Tutas)
