Drug surrenderee hurt in Carmen shooting

A self-confessed drug personality was hospitalized after he was shot by motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem past 12 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Arnaldo Germohenes Jr., a 25-year-old resident of Barangay La Paz, Carmen.

Based on investigation by the Carmen police, the victim came from a fiesta dinner in a village in the town when a motorcycle stopped in front of him while the vehicle’s passenger pulled out a pistol.

Germohenes was reportedly able to notice the shooter and run but was still hit in his right chest as the assailant fired at him.

Police said that the suspects immediately fled to an unknown direction after shooting the victim.

Residents in the area then alerted the authorities and rushed the victim to a hospital.

According to investigators, they found seven spent 9mm shells at the crime scene.

Police continue to conduct an investigation but have already noted that the incident may have been drug related.

Based on information gathered by police, the suspect started to again sell drugs after surrendering to authorities under Oplan Tokhang. (Allen Doydora)
