Organizers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) conferences in the country this year inspected the province on Thursday ahead of the Bohol leg in the yearlong event.
Undersecretary Anthony Alcantara, ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Committee deputy director general for operations, led the ocular inspection of possible venues which will host the foreign delegates.
There will be around 118 ASEAN conferences throughout the year and 2 leaders’ meetings which will be held in April and November, said Alcantara during the “Kita ug ang Gobernador†program at the People’s Mansion in Tagbilaran City.
According to Alcantara, there will be 15 ministerial meetings, 30 senior official meetings and 70 technical working group meetings held in various areas in the country including Bohol.
On Sunday last week, the official launch of the Philippines’ chairmanship of the 2017 ASEAN Summit was held in Davao City, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown.
The ASEAN Summit 2017 coincides with the 10-nation bloc’s 50th anniversary. (R. Tutas)
