Tagbilaran City police chief Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar on Thursday denied allegations of Conrada Blomqvist that he protected her son-in-law Lloyd Gonzaga who was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing of Atty. Mia Manuelita Mascariñas-Green.
According to Olaivar, he has already issued his statement to Police Regional Office-7 director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño denying the accusation of Blomqvist, Green’s client who is involved in a property dispute with Gonzaga.
Blomqvist hurled the same accusation against Panglao police chief Sr. Insp. Jomar Pomarejos who also reportedly denied allegations in a conference with Taliño, the highest ranking police officer in the region.
Last week, Blomqvist told Taliño that police did not respond to requests for assistance as she was being followed by armed men to Green’s residence after an altercation with her son-in-law last year.
However, Olaivar said that there were policemen who responded to Blomqvist’s call for assistance but they were unable to follow her request to have Gonzaga’s vehicle searched.
The police chief said that they did not have a search warrant while there were no weapons seen from outside the vehicle and there was no crime committed.
He also noted that he was not among the responding policemen as there was an ongoing anti-drug operation during the incident.
Meanwhile, Taliño said that tasked regional police units continue to conduct a probe as response to the complaint of Blomqvist who also said that there have been threats against her.
If the claimed threats are proven to be true, security escorts will be assigned to protect Blomqvist. (Allen Doydora)
