With the continued increase in tourist arrivals, the Cebu-Tagbilaran route has been booming with passengers everyday especially during the weekend.
The resumption of trips of Weesam Express and the continued increase in the number of trips of Oceanjet are clear indications that more tourists are visiting the province, either on a day trip or to stay overnight at the various hotels and resorts.
A check made by the Chronicle showed there are now 38 trips daily to and from Cebu of OceanJet, SuperCat and Weesam, the first trip leaving Tagbilaran at 6:05 (Weesam) in the morning and the same time leaving Cebu (OceanJet).
With this present number of trips, there could easily be 3,600 passengers arriving at the Tagbilaran City Port everyday on board these fast crafts.
Statistics showed the Chinese are getting the biggest chunk of tourist arrivals, followed by Koreans while other nationalities include Japanese, Europeans and Americans.
Oceanjet has the most number of trips with 26 daily while Supercat has 6 trips as well as Weesam.Â
The first trip from Tagbilaran to Cebu leaves as 6:05 a.m. with Weesam while the last trip departs 6:30pm with Oceanjet. The earliest departure from Cebu is 6 a.m. with Oceanjet while the last trip leaves 7:40 p.m. with Supercat.
With the increase in trips to and from Cebu, one is assured of an hourly departure from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Oceanjet now has two trips daily to and from Dumaguete City, leaving Tagbilaran 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. while the Dumaguete – Tagbilaran route leaves 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
