Mayor Nelson Yu and his wife Necie P. Yu, pageant project chairperson, presented the ten hopefuls for Miss Calape 2017, an attempt for a comeback after years of hiatus, event organizer-host Raul Gatal said.
Mayor Yu, who is on his first term as chief executive after serving as vice-mayor for three terms, said that the municipal government organizes the pageant as part of the annual fiesta celebration on May 10.
He said that his administration has lined up an array of activities starting May 2, first day of novena, to make the fiesta celebration festive and successful.
In its concept paper, Miss Calape is to select the “Calapenhon beauty who embodies the ideals of the town and can best represent the municipality in the prestigious annual quest for Miss Bohol.”
Miss Calape will serve as an ambassadress of goodwill and spokesperson to drum up the town’s achievements in development projects particularly in the fields of culture and arts, tourism, environment and a role model for Calape’s youth.
The candidates were taken to a motorcade on May 2 around the town and the grand coronation night will be on Wednesday after the talent night set tomorrow.
