After four months of being in hiding, Lloyd Lancer Gonzaga, the alleged mastermind in the killing of Atty. Mia Mascariñas-Green, was arrested in Davao City on Friday afternoon by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
This was confirmed by CIDG 7 chief Supt. Royina Garma in a live interview aired over station dyRD’s Tagbilaran by Night program.
According to Garma, Gonzaga was arrested at around 3 p.m. at the upscale Ladislawa Subdivision in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City by joint operatives of the CIDG 7 and CIDG 11.
“Since the warrant was released, we’ve been coordinating with Region XI CIDG because the last information we received indicated that he was hiding in his house in Ladislawa,” Garma said.
The arrest was reportedly delayed as Gonzaga fled the Davao Region to lay low.
“Most likely he just came back now that’s why he was sighted again,” she added.
According to Garma, Gonzaga is expected to be in Bohol on Monday afternoon to face charges lodged against him.
“He is currently detained in CIDG 11 in Davao City and on Monday morning, he will be transported by our troops to the Region VII office. Then I will have him taken to Bohol,” said Garma.
Gonzaga will be brought and presented to the three courts that issued arrest warrants against him.
He is the alleged mastermind and one of the suspected gunmen in the killing of Mascariñas-Green along JA Clarin Street, Tagbilaran City on February 15.
The crime allegedly stemmed from a property dispute in Panglao between Gonzaga and Conrada Blomqvist who was Mascariñas-Green’s client. (Allen Doydora)
