A man who was recently cleared of a drug charge was allegedly caught in the act of selling shabu by police in Tagbilaran City on Wednesday night.
Suspect Virgilio Besas, a native of Brgy. Poblacion, Ubay, was arrested in a buy-bust operation led by Sr. Insp. Erano Regidor along Causeway Drive, Poblacion 1.
According to authorities, Besas was spotted selling illegal drugs while police were conducting a monitoring operation against suspects in their drug watch list.
This prompted operatives to launch the sting operation wherein the suspect reportedly sold shabu worth P500 to an undercover cop.
In a report, police indicated that Besas yielded 7 more packets of shabu with a total weight of 1.5 grams and an estimated street value of P17,700.
According to Regidor, Besas was arrested for illegal drugs in Ubay in January.
The Ubay Police Station had filed a criminal complaint against Besas but this was not elevated to court due to lack of evidence, said Regidor.
Meanwhile, new charges for sale and possession of illegal drugs will be filed by authorities against the suspect. (W. Maestrado)
