A 52-year-old man was killed after he was “brutally” and repeatedly slashed with a bolo by his neighbor in Sierra Bullones past 4 p.m. on Monday according to a police investigator.
“It was a brutal killing,” said Sierra Bullones policeman SPO2 Conrad Butil in Cebuano. “The [suspect] did not hold back.”
Butil identified the victim as Joventino Estar, a 53-year-old resident of Barangay Bugsoc of said town.
According to Butil, Estar was hacked to death by one Eric Acapulco, 23, a resident of the same village, during a drinking session with the victim.
“A witness said that he was drinking with the suspect and victim starting around 1 p.m. At around 4 p.m. the suspect went out to urinate but suddenly came back and hacked the victim,” said Butil.
“The victim’s head was almost chopped off. His forehead, hands and back were hacked like meat,” added Butil.
Estar no longer made it to the hospital as he immediately succumbed to the multiple hack wounds at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, Acapulco voluntarily surrendered to police authorities.
The suspect admitted that the incident erupted from a heated argument against the victim which reportedly stemmed from conflict which started days prior to the killing.
Police confirmed that Acapulco was drunk during the incident.
“A murder case will be filed against him [Acapulco],” said Butil. (AD)
