The Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s committee on good government, justice and human rights has taken action on the alleged physical attack of a municipal councilor against a colleague during a Sangguniang Bayan session.
Board Member Abelion Damalerio who chairs the said SP committee was tasked to investigate the accusation of Jagna Councilor Edsel Tutor that Councilor Maricris Jamora grabbed and scratched his left ear.
The incident which purportedly stemmed from an argument took place during a budget hearing of the Jagna town council on October 6.
Tutor, following the incident, submitted a letter of complaint before the SP which prompted provincial legislators to look into the case.

The Jagna councilor accused his colleague Jamora of violating Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

For his part, Damalerio said that his committee will be reviewing the case while an official session to address the issue is yet to be scheduled. (rt)
