A lending firm collector allegedly lost P70,000 to two robbers, one of them armed with a pistol, at a remote hilltop village in Trinidad town on Thursday.
Trindad police investigator PO3 Geriper Cajes identified the victim as Neil Bantilan, a collector for the Bohol Bayanihan Multipurpose Cooperative.
According to Cajes, Bantilan was collecting payments in Barangay Kauswagan in Trinidad and was headed towards the town’s central district when the two suspects flagged him down.
One of the suspects held Bantilan at gunpoint while the other took the money from the victim.
The armed robber then fired his pistol indiscriminately before fleeing with his companion.
Bantilan meanwhile went to a nearby Philippine Army detachment base where he initially reported the incident.
According to Bantilan, the two suspects were wearing raincoats and had cloth to cover their faces.
There were no witnesses during the incident as it transpired in a remote area of the town, Cajes said. (Allen Doydora)
