A man facing multiple carnapping charges and an estafa complaint was arrested as he was about to disembark from a fastcraft at the Tagbilaran City pier on Sunday.
The nabbed suspect identified as Anthony Bersaluna, 36, a native of barangay Canhaway, Guindulman, has been charged for four carnapping incidents in the town of Binangonan, Rizal.
According to a concerned citizen who spoke on condition of anonymity, he spotted Bersaluna on board a Tagbilaran-bound fastcraft from Cebu.
He immediately reported the suspect’s sighting to Tagbilaran City authorities.
The Tagbilaran City Police Station led by Senior Insp. Erano Regidor, in turn, served the arrest warrant against Bersaluna at the pier as the ferry arrived.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Dennis Perez, acting presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 69 in Binangonan Rizal.
Perez set the bail for four counts of carnapping at P720,000.
Meanwhile, Bersaluna is also facing an estafa charge for allegedly acquiring P400,000 through a fraudulent transaction with a victim identified as Floramea Vistal of Inabanga. (W. Maestrado)
