The Department of Public Works and Highways has earmarked a P366.9-million budget for the implementation of three major road projects in Bohol, said a DPWH official.
According to Engr. Joselito Sayson of PDWH-7, the fund will be for the Anoyon-Omjon Road in Valencia, Getafe Road in Getafe and various roads leading to the beach resorts in Candijay.
A total of P225 million was allotted for the project in Valencia, P138.4 million for Getafe and P90.1 million for Candijay, Sayson said.
The DPWH official noted that the road projects are partly intended to boost tourism by improving accessibility of various tourist spots in the province.
The initiative was launched through the proposal of the Department of Trade and Industry to boost livelihood in areas along the project sites.
Sayson said that over P1 billion was allotted by the government for infrastructure projects across Central Visayas.
Of the said budget, P484.9 million was allocated for the improvement of bridges, ports, roads and flood control infrastructures in Cebu.
