A married couple landed in the hospital as the husband drank acid cleaner in a suicide attempt after he allegedly bashed his wife with a hammer in Anda in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Mark, a seaman, and wife Janice (not their real names), both residents of Anda reportedly figured in an argument inside their house prior to the incidents at past midnight.
Based on initial police investigation, the heated verbal exchange led to a physical tussle.
Mark allegedly hit his wife with a hammer but only grazed her causing a large cut.
He then went inside the restroom where he drank muriatic acid.
According to PO2 Felix Datahan, they saw Mark sprawled on the floor while his wife was bloodied.
Datahan said that Mark also slit his arm with a sharp object which left an open cut.
Both were rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City where they are now both in stable condition.
Meanwhile, police continued their investigation on the incident and have yet to identify the cause of the fight.
Neighbors of the couple told police that the husband and wife fought regularly. (Allen Doydora)
