A 52-year-old South Korean woman was killed after she accidentally fell off a motorized banca and was hit by the boat’s propeller in waters off Panglao on Monday.
In a report, police said that victim Hyangnam Jung was travelling with a group from Balicasag Island to Virgin Island when she fell overboard at around 11 a.m.
Jung was reportedly sitting on the edge of the boat when she went out of balance and fell.
She was then hit by the banca’s propeller causing a large cut on her leg.
The victim was rushed to the Borja Family Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
She was treated for her injury but but died at 5 p.m., a few hours after arriving at the hospital.
According to Renante Fucolan of the Panglao Police Station, that Jung may have died of severe blood loss.
Meanwhile, police are conducting an investigation on the incident to find out if there was negligence on the part of the boat operator, Fucolan said.
Authorities are also still awaiting on the decision of the victim’s family to whether or not file charges against the operator. (A. Doydora)
