A female victim who sells dried fish for a living was shot after refusing to give money to an armed robber who knocked on her house’s door in San Isidro town on Sunday evening.
According to PO2 Marlon Hinay of the San Isidro Police Station, the male suspect arrived at victim Neria Hibaya’s house at around 8 p.m. after she sold dried fish in the town of Antequera.
The suspect knocked and when Hibaya opened the door, he immediately pointed a gun at her and declared a robbery.
He then shot Hibaya with a .45 caliber pistol after she reportedly said that she and her husband, Alfredo, who was also inside the house had no money.
Neria fell to the ground while Alfredo, out of fear, immediately handed over a bag which contained an uncertain amount of money.
“Ayaw mo ug sunod,” the suspect reportedly shouted at the Hibayas as he fled the area towards an undetermined direction.
Hinay said that Alfredo immediately rushed Neria who sustained a gunshot wound in her stomach to a hospital.
Neria continued to be treated for her injury at the hospital while police launched a hot pursuit operation against the suspect. (A. Doydora)
