Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) director Sr. Supt. Angeles Geñorga appealed for cooperation from Buenavista residents as police continued to hunt down alleged cop killer Emidio Aparece Jr.
Geñorga called on the public particularly Buenavista residents to immediately relay information on the whereabouts of Aparece to put an end to the rash of killings allegedly perpetrated by the suspect.
Aparece was tagged as the suspect in the fatal shooting of SPO1 Alejandro Estorgio at past 1 a.m. on Monday amidst a large crowd celebrating the town’s foundation day at a municipal gymnasium.
According to Geñorga, Estorgio and Aparece had a longstanding rift as the former regularly led manhunt operations against the suspect.
This may have been the reason why out of the numerous police officers present during the shooting Aparece chose to gun down Estorgio, Geñorga said.
Prior to Estorgio’s killing, Aparece was already wanted for multiple murders including that of two barangay officials of the town in 2016 and 2017.
The Buenavista police had earlier noted that residents have not been cooperative in efforts to apprehend Aparece as they fear drawing the suspect’s ire.
This was even after authorities placed a P-200,000 bounty on Aparece’s head.
However, Geñorga vowed to sustain relentless operations against the suspect who authorities believe is still in Buenavista.
Geñorga also called on Aparece to present himself before authorities instead as the province’s highest ranking police official said that he is ready to help process the suspect’s surrender. (A. Doydora)
