A man believed to be suffering from a mental condition was arrested after he was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera stealing a motorcycle in front of the Lite Port Center in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday night.

According to police, they were able to pinpoint the suspect who was later identified as Jay Abucejo, 25, through the CCTV footage provided by the Lite Port Center.

Authorities of the Tagbilaran City Police Station then traced Abucejo, a native of Garcia Hernandez, to his temporary home along Gallares Street in the city.

The victim’s Mio motorcycle was recovered by the police and Abucejo was taken into custody.

However, the owner of the motorcycle, Fritzie Mae Cornell Vano, 32, said that she will not be filing charges against Abucejo.

This was after Jay’s uncle, Rolando Abucejo, told authorities that his nephew is suffering from a mental condition.

Jay was released from police custody while Vano’s motorcycle was turned over to her on Wednesday. (W. Maestrado)
