Tribu Poblacion Tres (Barangay Pobacion 3) on Tuesday bagged the top plum of the Saulog 2018 street dancing competition which highlighted Tagbilaran City’s month-long festivities.
The winning contingent took home P150,000 cash and a trophy along with cash prizes for the Best in Field Performance and Best in Choreography awards worth P10,000 each.
Last year’s champion, “Tribu Maampuon” of Barangay San Isidro, settled for the second spot but clinched four special awards—Best in Streetdancing, Best in Musicality, Best in Production Design, and Best in Costume.
“Tribu Ubujanon” (Barangay Ubujan) got P80,000 cash and trophy as 2nd runner-up while “Tribu Tiptipanon” (Barangay Tiptip) and Barangay Taloto tied as 3rd runners-up, bringing home P50,000 cash and trophy.
All 15 contingents representing each of Tagbilaran’s 15 villages converged at the Plaza Rizal along CPG Avenue and performed their themed dances through the thoroughfares of the city’s commercial district up to the CPG Sports Complex.
They showed off at three stations for judging on their street dance performances—first along the City Square, in front of Wregent Hotel, and then in front of Ramasola Studio—before turning right to the CPG Sports Complex for their grand performance.
The performances were judged by a committee comprised of six judges, three from Manila and three from Bohol.
Each of the 15 barangays were given about two months to prepare for the Saulog street dancing competition.
