The City Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Presiding Officer, City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso approved Proposed Ordinance No. 08-18, An Ordinance Creating the Public Nuisance Administrative Board (PNAB) of the City of Tagbilaran during the regular session on May 18, 2018.

Sponsored by City Councilor Eliezer Borja, the ordinance is based on Sec 52 of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which empowers LGUs to declare any place or premises as public nuisance.

A place shall be considered as public nuisance if it has been used on two or more occasions as the site of unlawful use, sale or delivery of dangerous drugs.

The PNAB shall be responsible for the full compliance of RA 9165, control the proliferation of drug-related nuisances, rehabilitation or treatment process of drug dependents, ensure that the City of Tagbilaran Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the Barangay Drug Abuse Councils are actively and effectively functional and coordinate with the Dangerous Drug Boards.

With the passage of this ordinance, the City hopes that the campaign to eradicate illegal drugs will be fully implemented so that all forms of criminality stemming from illegal drugs shall also be abated.
