A 35-year-old man was arrested on Monday by police for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Tagilaran City in 2017.
Cresenciano Albarando, a resident of Barangay Mansasa in Tagbilaran, was arrested in Barangay Danao, Panglao by police operatives led by PO3 Jason Amonsot of the Tagbilaran City Police Station’s warrant section.
Albarando is facing a statutory rape charge and was taken into police custody through an arrest warrant issued by Judge Leo Lison of Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Tagbilaran.
According to Amonsot, results of a medical examination conducted on the victim showed traces of forceful sexual contact resulting in the laceration of her private organ.
Albarando, after his arrest, admitted to having committed the crime and expressed remorse for it. He also claimed that he was “extremely” drunk during the incident.
Meanwhile, the court set the bail for his temporary liberty at P120,000.
The suspect however has yet to make bail and remains detained at the Tagbilaran City police detention facility. (Weli Maestrado)
