A newborn baby boy was found abandoned by a man and a woman believed to be his parents in a grassy area beside a pedestrian pathway in Barangay Totolan, Dauis on Saturday morning.
According to SPO3 Jose Pogoy of the Dauis police, one Arlene Nuynay found the baby at around 7 a.m. and brought him to a health center in Barangay Mariveles of said town.
Nuynay told police that before she found the baby a “young” man and woman told her that there was a baby in the grassy area.
“Gitawag nila ning si Arlene ug gi-ingnan nga nay bata diri sa kasagbutan,” said Pogoy.
Nuynay then went to check and covered the unclothed baby before taking him to authorities.
The suspected parents both immediately left the area after talking to Nuynay.
“Ni-ingon pa ang duha nga sa wala pa milakaw, nga ‘ikaw nay bahala ana, Nay’,” added Pogoy.
Meanwhile, police continued their investigation in identifying the parents and relatives of the abandoned baby.
The baby was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. (A. Doydora)
