The Sandugo Flower and Garden Show which ushered the month-long celebration of the Sandugo Festival 2018 was formally opened last Wednesday at the Plaza Rizal in Tagbilaran City.
Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M. Pamugas led the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon assisted by Delia Rebuya and Rebecca Ygot, the presidents of the Bohol Landscapers and Gardeners Association (BLGA) and Tagbilaran Landscapers and Gardeners Association (TLGA), respectively.
Pamugas said about 47 members from the associations: BLGA (20 members), and TLGA (27) have started to display flowers, fruit tree seedlings at the Plaza Rizal grounds last June 29.
Guests can buy flowers and fruit tree seedlings of durian, mangosteen, rambotan, lanzones and makopa, among others at a reasonable prices.
The Sandugo Flower and Garden Show has enliven Plaza Rizal this city with more green luring tourists and the visitors who have come in Bohol to witness the month-long activities of the Sandugo 2018.
On the part of the associations, Rebuya and Ygot said their usual buyers have been the churchgoers especially during Sundays.
Rosanna G. Lamdagan, division head, agribusiness, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) said this annual activity aims to help the ornamental growers to promote their products and beautify the plaza, the promenade in the heart of the city.
She disclosed that the show is part of the activities of the Sandugo Agri-Fair which is slated July 17-20, 2018 at the Bohol-Agricultural Promotion Center (B-APC) grounds to showcase the Boholano agricultural products and to recognize Boholano farmers who have excelled in the field of agriculture.
