Panglao Police Station commander Insp. Geronimo Conarco on Tuesday admitted that there are suspected big-time drug dealers operating in the bustling town, which is projected to experience an economic boom in the forthcoming years.
According to Conarco, most of the illegal drugs circulated by big-time dealers in the town were sourced from Metro Manila through an alleged narcotics operation that has been placed under surveillance by the police.
The town’s police continued to monitor both locals and foreigners who have been suspected of involvement in illegal drug activities including the use and sale of the banned substance, said Conarco.
However, the police chief said that no barangay official in the town has been suspected of involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Conarco who was newly assigned to lead Panglao’s police force also assured the public that they have maintained an intensified drive against criminality and illegal drugs amid the municipality’s continued growth and establishment of more commercial buildings in the town.
He acknowledged the assistance of force multipliers who have helped maintain peace and order in the town and in carrying out police operations.
Earlier this week, the Panglao police arrested one Mark Ronald Sarahina through a drug buy-bust operation.
He was apprehended near his home in Barangay Bil-isan, Panglao and was allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P10,000. (rt)
