The Garcia Hernandez Sangguniang Bayan (SB) has passed a resolution allowing the use of a local government building in the town as temporary workspace for the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) Jagna District Office.
Garcia Hernandez Mayor Tita Gallantes offered to temporarily host the Jagna LTO after it was ordered to vacate its current office within the month, said Garcia Hernandez Municipal Administrator Nilo Salise.
Gallantes made the offer to allow continuity in the Jagna LTO’s operations and to spare residents in the area from having to travel to Tagbilaran City for transactions with the agency.
The office currently used by LTO Jagna will be occupied by the Land Bank of the Philippines starting next month.
LTO Jagna was offered another lot for its office but agency authorities refused as the new location was near the sea which could damage equipment.
According to Salise, the Gracia Hernandez local government unit (LGU) has offered to let the LTO use its motorpool office.
The LGU started to clear the office in preparation for the LTO’s transfer.
Regional LTO officials have already inspected the building and have shown interest in occupying it, said Salise.
The office is a 100-sqm concrete structure which has an open space that can be used as impounding lot.
However, Salise said that the LTO is expected to again inspect the area next week.
The LTO has two district offices in Bohol, one in Jagna and one in Tagbilaran City.
It has a driver’s license renewal center in Tagbilaran and an extension office in Talibon. (AD)
