Two foreign nationals died in separate drowning incidents in Panglao, police said.
PO3 Gregorio Perocho of the Panglao Police Station identified the fatalities as Lin Jing, a 27-year-old Chinese woman, and Oh Eng, a 70-year-old Malyasian man.
According to Perocho, Jing drowned in a swimming pool at the Bohol Divers Resort in Barangay Danao while Eng was not able to resurface on his own during a diving trip off the Alona Beach.
Eng reached a depth of 45 meters underwater prompting his companions, a dive master and dive control specialist from the Almera Dive Shop, to go after him during the excursion on Monday morning, said Perocho.
However, Eng was already unresponsive when they got to him.
He was brought to the surface where personnel from the dive shop performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but Eng remained unresponsive.
Eng was rushed to a hospital in Tagbilaran City but was declared dead on arrival.
On Sunday, Jing drowned in a pool around 7 p.m.
According to Perocho, her body was later found floating by her companions who performed CPR.
She managed to initially spew out water but later died on the way to the Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
Authorities believed that Jing who did not how to swim may have accidentally reached the depart parts of the poll and may have not been immediately noticed as the area was not well lit. (A. Doydora)
