A total of 272 uniformed personnel of the Bohol Provincial Police Office who underwent a surprise drug test were found negative of any drug traces, said an official of the BPPO crime laboratory.
According to Chief Insp. David Alexander Patriana, BPPO crime lab chief, 41 of the BPPO’s 47 municipal chiefs of police were subjected to the testing.
The surprise testing covered both commissioned and non-commissioned officers, Patriana said.
The activity was carried out on July 19 during the command visit of Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas to Bohol.
Police officers including the police station commanders were subjected to a urine testing at the BPPO Multi-purpose hall at Camp Francsisco Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City.
According to Patriana, the testing was part of the Philippine National Police’s drive to clear its ranks of illegal drug users, in line with the order of PNP chief Dir. Gen. Oscar Albayalde.
“Part of the internal cleasing ng PNP as prescribed by our chief PNP,” said Patriana. (R. Tutas)
