While two individuals continued to claim Panglao’s mayoralty, last-term Board Member Venzencio Arcamo of the first district said that his entire slate for the midterm polls in the town has been completed with himself as standard bearer.
Arcamo on Tuesday told dyRD Balita that he will be running for Panglao mayor in the 2019 elections with Jojo Arcay, a former councilor of the town, as his running mate.
According to Arcamo, the entire roster of the group, dubbed “Double A in Panglao,” has already been filled up including at the councilor level.
Arcamo, as senior board member, has sat as acting vice governor last year during the absence of Vice Governor Dioniso Balite who was then suspended.
Arcamo’s announcement to run for Panglao’s mayoral seat was made just barely a month from the filing of certificates of candidacy in October and amid the controversy on the municipality’s mayoralty with both Pedro Fuertes and Nila Montero claiming to be the town’s chief executive.
The Department of Interior and Local Government on Monday issued a directive which recognized Fuertes as Panglao’s lawful mayor.
However, Montero said that she will not honor the DILG order which she called “illegal.” (RT)
