“I am waiting for some timing before I get to officially announce my gubernatorial bid,” says Cabinet Secretary Leoncio “Jun” Evasco.
This was how he reacted when asked by the Chronicle on Saturday on an update as to the much talked about gubernatorial plans in next year’s elections.
Nothing is definite for now as far as Evasco is concerned even as the filing of the certificate of candidacy is barely 18 days away.
However, a highly placed source informed the Chronicle that Evasco will be meeting town mayors in the second district on Thursday as part of his consultation among local leaders.
Conflicting statements have been heard from the Evasco saying that he has yet to ask permission from President Duterte on his gubernatorial plans while in another occasion he said he will just wait for the President to announce it himself.
Earlier, Vice Governor Dionisio Balite, who has claimed to be the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) interim council chairman in Bohol, said that the party will endorse Evasco as gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 polls.
The announcement however remained unofficially as longtime PDP-Laban member and president Dolereich Dumaluan challenged Balite’s claim on the party’s leadership in the province.
