A Chinese national was killed after he was accidentally hit by a dump truck while riding a motorcycle in Panglao at past 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Tang Shuai, 32, who was temporarily residing in Barangay Tawala, Panglao.

According to PO3 Gregorio Perocho, Jr. of the Panglao Police Station, Tang died on the spot due to severe injuries to the head and body.

Tang was driving his motorcycle from Barangay Tawala to Barangay Danao when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

The trailing dump truck, driven by one Jomar Magdula, 23, of Sierra Bullones, then hit Tang who had already crashed and was on the road.

Magdula told authorities that he did not notice Tang in time causing him to run over the Chinese national.

Perocho noted that there may have been limited distance between the motorcycle and the truck prior to the accident.

This may have given Magdula less time to avoid Tang, Perocho said.

Magdula meanwhile was arrested by police as charges were set to be filed against him. (A. Doydora)
