Regional Director Guilbert Gonzales of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has named a new Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) in the province.
The newly appointed PENRO Charlie Fabre assumed the post previously held by Salem Quiwag, who is now Administrative Officer V handling personnel, plant and properties.
Reports reaching the Chronicle said the sudden appointment of a new PENRO came as a surprise even to Gov. Edgar Chatto as he was not informed of the replacement.
Quiwag who has been with the DENR for 24 years was well appreciated by the cross-section of the community especially on the recent move to implement the ordered demolition of illegal structures deemed to have violated environmental laws.
