A motorela on Friday morning fell into a drainage ditch after an out-of-control passenger bus barreled towards it along a national road in Carmen town.

According to PO2 Elmer Pabio, the motorela, a large tricycle, crashed after it avoided a Southern Star bus which was heading directly towards it.

Edelberto Salise, the motorela’s driver, only suffered small scratches in his body after his vehicle crashed.

No other person including the bus’s passengers were injured during the incident.

Based on their initial probe, Pabio said that the bus’s “kingpin” was broken causing the driver, Maximo Hapatan, to lose control of the vehicle’s wheels.

Both parties agreed to settle the accident amicably, Pabio said. (AD)
