Residents near a warehouse in Tagbilaran City were alarmed after a 14-year-old boy was seen playing with a fragmentation grenade on Monday.

Police operatives led by Tagbilaran City police chief Supt. Patricio Degay immediately responded to the incident which was reported by one Leonora Laway.

The police officers found the grenade left beside a banana tree near a liquor warehouse along Lamdagan Street in Barangay Cogon.

Degay however said that the vintage MK2 grenade was unlikely to explode as it had no gunpowder inside.

The grenade also no longer had a safety pin but this was safely taken by police authorities. (wm)
