A six-year-old boy was killed after he was hit and then run over by a van in Anda on Friday morning.
The van owned by Fortune Group Enterprises slammed straight into the victim, a pupil of the Candabong Elementary School in Anda, as he crossed the street towards his home at past 11 a.m., said PO3 Ferdinand Tutor.
According to Tutor, the boy and his father, Ronilo Tinio, had just arrived on board a motorela which was parked across their house during the accident.
Tinio told the boy not to cross the street but did not hear him, Tutor said.
The victim who suffered severe injuries to the head died on the spot.
Tutor said that the van’s driver Richard Gapas tried to assist the victim but was driven away by an irate Tinio.
Gapas instead went straight to the Anda Police Station to surrender.
According to Tutor, Gapas was detained at the Anda lock-up jail pending the filing of charges against him.
The Fortune Group meanwhile pledged to extend finanacial assistance to the victim’s family. (A. Doydora)
