Police on Sunday dawn seized P1.1 million worth of shabu during an anti-drug operation in the Island of Pangangan in Calape.
According to Senior Inspector Romar Labasbas of the Bohol police Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), the drug haul was confiscated from big-time drug dealer Jofil Marquialla, 33, who had drug operations across the province including Baclayon, Maribjoc, Cortes, Dauis and Panglao.
Marquialla, a resident of Dauis town, had been placed under surveillance for over month prior to his arrest in Barangay Magtongtong, Calape.
Labasbas said that Marquialla received drug shipment in Pangangan and distributed supply to drug peddlers in the said towns on board a banca.
Authorities speculated that the drug supply was shipped from Cebu but this has yet to be confirmed as Marquialla refused to identify his source.
In a report, police said that Marquialla sold shabu worth P2,000 to a poseur-buyer during a staged drug transaction in Barangay Magtongtong at 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Police allegedly found 100 grams of shabu contained in 14 packs in Marquialla’s possession during the operation near his temporary residence.
Joint operatives of the PIB and Calape Police Station then immediately arrested Marquialla for violations against the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act Series of 2002. (W. Maestrado)
