A man in the police’s drug watchlist and his cousin were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City on Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the arrested suspected drug dealers as Benjamin Alturas, 40, and Arthur Alturas, 43, a newly known drug personality. Both are residents of Barangay Mansasa in Tagbilaran.

Benjamin was allegedly spotted by police as he was selling illegal drugs near his residence prompting police to set the buy-bust operation in motion.

An undercover cop bought shabu worth P1,000 from Benjamin but it was Arthur who handed over the drugs.

Police said that they found 18 more sachets of suspected shabu in both suspects’ possession.

The seized drugs were estimated to be worth P34,000.

Benjamin and Arthur are now detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station lock-up jail.

Both will be charged with violations against Section 5 and Section 11 Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (wm)
