National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents arrested an alleged underling of slain suspected high-level drug dealer and protector SPO1 Adonis Dumpit during a buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City on Thursday night.
The apprehended alleged drug dealer, identified as Gabriel Mission, 33, of Barangay Manga, was earlier monitored to have been running errands for Dumpit before the latter was gunned down during a joint operation by the NBI and the police’s Regional Intelligence Division (RID), said NBI Bohol chief Atty. Renan Oliva.
According to Oliva, they found out after the operation that Mission continued to be low-level player in the drug trade contrary to their previous suspicion that he took on a larger role in Dumpit’s alleged drug operations following the controversial cop’s death.
Mission drew the NBI’s attention after concerned residents in Barangay Manga reported that he had been actively dealing drugs in the village.
He was arrested Thursday night after selling shabu worth P500 to an undercover agent and yielded three more packets of shabu along the coastal road in Barangay Manga.
Mission suffered minor wounds on his legs after he allegedly attempted to evade arrest but slipped and fell down as he ran.
Oliva said that Mission will be charged with possession and sale of illegal drugs.
In June last year, Dumpit, a decorated but controversial police officer, was shot dead by NBI and RID agents after he allegedly shot it out with the arresting authorities in Tagbilaran City.
The “drug interdiction” operation was set against Dumpit after authorities gathered information that he was allegedly delivering shabu supply. (W. Maestrado)
