A driver of a Tagbilaran City-bound trailer truck was killed while his companion was injured after the vehicle tipped over and slammed straight into a coconut tree in Balilihan on Tuesday.
PO2 Ismael Chatto of the Balilihan Police Station said that incident happened at past 2 p.m. along a sharp curve in Barangay Haguilanan Grande which has been deemed accident prone.
The truck first hit a residential fence made of wood before it fell to its side and hit a tree.
According to Chatto, the driver of the Alturas-owned truck, Arnel Butlig, died on the spot.
Emergency responders took a while to remove Butlig’s body from the truck as he was pinned down by a severely damaged segment of the vehicle, said Chatto.
Meanwhile, the vehicle’s “truck boy”, Rene Pedra, suffered minor injuries.
Chatto noted that last year an oil tanker also rammed the same fence of the house owned by one Victoria Orilla.
No one was injured during the incident but Orilla’s gate and terrace were damaged. (A. Doydora)
