A female alleged swindler was caught on closed-circuit television camera after she allegedly sold beauty products for P11,000 to two Tagbilaran City women on the pretense that she is a doctor.
Cheryl Suan, 36, and Angelie Remolador, 30, both employees of a teacher’s cooperative in Tagbilaran City later found out that the actual worth of the products was miniscule compared to what they paid for.
According to the victims, the woman who sold them the products claimed to be one Doctor Sara Briones.
The woman who was accompanied by a male associate sold to Remolador and Suan pieces of slimming juice, beauty cream and fish oil supplement.
The victims said that both were “good” in sales talk.
They then looked up “Sara Briones” online and found out that one Doctor Sarah Briones had also victimized teachers in Laoag City.
Police have not yet confirmed whether or not the woman was the same person who claimed to be Briones but a 2017 report from Bombo Radyo indicated that the modi in Tagbilaran and Laoag were similar.
The report said that Briones sold fake beauty products worth thousands to four teachers in Laoag City and claimed to be working for Doctor Vicky Belo.
“Ayon pa sa guro, sabay na inilabas ng pekeng doktor na kasama ang isang bading ang kanilang beauty products na libu-libong piso ang presyo at bumili naman ang apat na mga guro,” the report added. “Nalaman na lamang ang mga nasabing guro na peke pala ang kanilang biniling beauty products pagkatapos ang pag-search nila sa internet.”
Personnel of the Tagbilaran City Police Station’s investigation and intelligence sections meanwhile have been tasked to investigate the case. (wm)
