A man died after his motorcycle accidentally slammed into an electric post in Panglao on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The fatality, identified as Darwin Aniñon of Maribojoc, was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
According to Corporal Marlon Ciudadano of the Panglao Police Station, Aniñon lost control of his motorcycle along sharp curve in Barangay Lourdes causing him to ram an electric post.
Aniñon was wearing a helmet during the accident but the protective gear was thrown away following the impact.
The helmet may have not been properly fastened prior to the impact, said Ciudadano.
Aniñon suffered severe injuries to his head which caused his death.
Based on their initial probe, Ciudadano said that Aniñon may have been under the influence of alcohol during the accident.
“Matud pa sa mga naka-ila ato niya nga mura’g naka-inom pod kono to unya kusog pod padagan niya,” Ciudadano added. (A. Doydora)
