Another drug offender released through the Supreme Court-mandated plea bargaining agreement framework was arrested during a police anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City.
Remar Panalcialman, 24, who was recently released from prison was arrested on Thursday night along with his alleged cohort in the drug trade, Anthony “Balat” Mateo, 26, police said.
Operatives subjected Panalcialman to a drug buy-bust near his residence in Barangay Ubujan.
He allegedly transacted with a police poseur-buyer while Mateo handed over the drugs in exchange for P500 resulting to their immediate arrest.
According to police, they seized 4.5 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P30,600 from Panalcialman and Mateo.
Both were placed under the custody of the Tagbilaran City Police Station pending the filing of illegal drug charges against them.
In recent months, law enforcement agents including the police and the National Bureau of Investigation have been arresting drug offenders who were released after they entered plea bargaining deals.
On Tuesday, a man identified as Francis Laborte who was recently released from prison though a plea bargaining agreement was found dead in Cortes town with several gunshot wounds in his body. (wm)
