The average daily passenger arrival at the new Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA) doubled starting March, this year amid the start of the school summer vacation and the upcoming fiesta season in Bohol next month.
According to Police Captain Marvin Bolic, chief of the BPIA Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), average daily arrivals from March to April 27 grew to 2,382 individuals from 1,150 before the said period.
“Nag increase g’yud ni siya pagsugod sa Marso. Naa tay dagdag na flights sa mga airlines. So from 1,150 sauna average, latest data nato niadtong last 27 April naa ta sa 2382 arrivals,” he said.
Most of the arriving passengers were both Bohol natives returning home for the province’s so-called fiesta season and tourists from various countries.
“Combiniation mani. Naay Russian, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese, ug mga Filipino pud,” said Bolic.
Meanwhile, security situation at the airport remained “normal” but Bolic assured the public that the AVSEGROUP is ready to respond to threats.
“So far, diri sa among situation normal man, peaceful pero di ta magkompyansa. Nakaready mi kapunay ang AVSEGROUP,” Bolic added. (rt)
