A security guard who was driving his motorcycle was killed after he figured in a head-on collision against a commuter bus in Dagohoy town on Saturday morning, police said.
The fatality, identified as Nilo Janiola, 25, of Barangay Buenavista in Ubay was declared dead on the spot, said Master Sgt. Abundio Jumamoy, Jr. of the Dagohoy Police Station.
No one on board the bus was injured.
Jumamoy said that Janiola, who was assigned in Tagbilaran City, was on his way home when he accidentally slammed straight into an incoming Southern Star bus.
Janiola was trying to overtake a multicab but did not notice the incoming bus at the opposite lane, he added.
According to Jumamoy, Janiola sustained severe injuries to his head and body causing his instantaneous death.
Janiola’s helmet was unable to save him as this was crushed due to the impact.
Meanwhile, the bus’s driver, identified as Randy Bacolot, 36, of San Isidro town, surrendered to authorities following the incident. (A. Doydora)
