A 26-year-old woman was shot in broad daylight by still unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants who rode in tandem along CPG North Avenue in Tagbilaran City on Monday.
The victim, Sterlyn Carbunera of Barangay Guiwanon, Maribojoc was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital for immediate treatment. She was reportedly in stable condition few hours after the attack.
In a report, police said that Carbunera and one Nicole Paredes were waiting for a tricycle near the corner of CPG North Avenue and Peñaflor Street when the suspects on board an XRM motorcycle sped towards them.
The motorcycle stopped in front of Carbunera as the passenger shot her hitting her in the neck and causing her to immediately fall to the ground.
Police said that both suspects were wearing helmets which covered their faces.
The Bohol police Provincial Intelligence Branch which assisted in the investigations eyed drug involvement of Curbanera’s live-in partner as possible motive behind the brazen gun attack.
Authorities did not identify the victim’s alleged Filipino live-in partner.
However, this was denied by Curbanera. She told dyRD Balita that her live-in partner is a foreign national.
Curbanera said that the attack may have been due to a love triangle.
She alleged that the relationship drew the ire of her foreign boyfriend’s former lover.
Curbanera is reportedly set to be transferred to a private hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, investigators continued their probe on the case to pinpoint the motive and suspects behind the attack.(W. Maestrado)
