Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Henri Jean Paul Inting who traces his roots to Bohol has been appointed to the Supreme Court (SC), making him the first Boholano justice at the High Tribunal.
Inting took his oath of office before Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin at the Supreme Court New Session Hall in Manila on Wednesday, completing the SC’s 15-man roster.
The new SC magistrate, who occupies the associate justice post vacated by Bersamin when he was appointed chief justice in November, last year, is President Rodrigo Duterte’s ninth SC associate justice appointee.
Inting was born in Davao del Sur but he has identified himself as a Boholano given that his father was born in Bohol.
Inting is the son of late Bohol Prosecutor Enrique Inting of Loay town.
He is also the sister of Commission on Elections commissioner Socorro Inting, who had also served as CA justice.
Inting, 61, will serve as SC magistrate until his 70th birthday on September 4, 2027.
He earned his law degree from the Ateneo de Davao University where he graduated cum laude.
In October 2012, he was appointed as associate justice at the CA.
Prior to that, he served as regional trial court judge, a municipal trial court judge, a public attorney, and a prosecutor.
