Two men who were supposedly only stopped for traffic violations ended up being arrested for drug charges in Tagbilaran City in separate incidents.
The two apprehended motorcycle-riding men were identified as Mark Bryan Diaz, 19, of Barangay Hanopol in Balilihan and Lyndon Oronan, 30, of Barangay Cogon in Tagbilaran City.
In a report, police said that Oronan was flagged down along FB Harrison in Barangay Booy by members of the city Special Weapons and Tactics unit who were conducting routine patrols on Thursday night.
He however sped away while police followed in pursuit.
Oronan who was eventually cornered and arrested along the same street. He allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu.
Police also found out that Oronan was driving without a license.
On Wednesday, Diaz was arrested at a checkpoint near the St. Joseph’s Cathedral after he was flagged down for not wearing a helmet and not having side mirrors on his motorcycle.
Police said that he appeared rattled as he threw away a sachet of shabu as he approached the checkpoint.
According to police, Oronan was arrested for sale of illegal drugs through a drug buy-bust operation in 2017.
He was released in January, this year after entering into a plea bargaining agreement.
Police said that Oronan and Diaz will be charged with possession of illegal drugs. (W. Maestrado)
