Three people were killed while four others were injured following two separate motorcycle collisions in Ubay on Sunday, police said.
Staff Sgt. Ranilo Rosales of the Ubay Police Station identified the fatalities as Junjie Pugoy, 25, of Alicia; Dario Butal, Sr. and Joel Salo, both residents of Ubay.
According to Rosales, Pugoy was driving a motorcycle when another motorcyclist from the opposite lane, identified as Leondro Boiser, swerved and slammed straight into him along a national road in Barangay Calanggaman at past midnight.
Boiser and Pugoy’s passenger, Bernie Culiamat, were injured and rushed to a hospital where they continued to be treated.
Rosales said that Boiser was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
Later on the same day, Butal who was driving a motorcycle with his son Junior onboard was hit by another motorcycle driven by Salo.
Salo came from the opposite lane when he collided head on against Butal.
Rosales said that Salo was racing against another motorcycle and was trying to overtake which made him cross towards the opposite lane.
Both Salo and Butal were not wearing helmets during the incident, Rosales added.
Meanwhile, Junior and Salo’s passenger, Jayson Tambanga, were rushed to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. (ad)
