The first Panglao branch of international fast food chain McDonald’s was ordered to shut down operations on Thursday just three days after its inauguration for failure to secure a business permit.

The shutdown was ordered by the office of Mayor Leonila Montero through a directive served by the Municipal Engineering Office, said Danny Reyes, a consultant for the Panglao local government unit.

According to Reyes, the McDonald’s branch was not issued a business permit due to several violations particularly failure to comply with setback requirements.

Reyes said that the establishment has structures within the 15-meter setback including a generator and a drainage ditch.

“Naa pud na silay gikubkob na naa pud sa 15-meter setback—gipadalhan og stoppage order sa DPWH—para na sa ilang hinugasan, tubig, bawal mana siya kay sud sa setback,” said Reyes. “Unya kaning poste sa ilang transformer. Sud gihapon. Mao ng gi-require sila na ibalhin.”

The restaurant located near the world-famous Alona Beach in Barangay Tawala immediately shut down operations after the order was served and was placed on the establishment’s main door.

However, Reyes said that the restaurant can resume operations once it complies with the requirements and is issued a business permit from the mayor.

“Og ma comply nan a nila makabalik nana sila. Lisod man pud og pasagdan lang sila unya basin og langan langanon nila og comply di mag operate sila na way permit. Unya madaot na pud ang LGU na nganong gipa operate,” said Reyes. (AD)
